Taekwondo

Taekwondo Hobby

Taekwondo is a Korean martial art created in 1955 by general Choi Hon Hi. There are two main taekwondo disciplines with other martial arts claiming that they are also taekwondo. The two main types of taekwondo are WT and ITF. ITF taekwondo was the original taekwondo developed by the general Choi in 1955. This style is not an Olympic sport though there are many championships very popular in the world today. ITF taekwondo is less sport-based and less centralised than WT. It focuses more on the traditional and also focuses on self-defence. WT however focuses more on sport and fancy kicks as taekwondo is known for this. WT is completely focused on sport and not so much on self-defence.
